Great Global Warming - Information and Facts on Global Warming and Climate Change - Carbon Footpint facts

Welcome to GREAT GLOBAL WARMING

Global warming and the SUNOur massive sun (which is 1 million times the size of our earth), the vast oceans, waters, land, forests, and atmosphere are all major factors affecting our planet's climate - a climate which sustains and nourishes a rare world teeming with life. The National Science Foundation’s “Tree of Life” project has estimated that there could be anywhere from 5 million to 100 million species on the planet today - not to mention millions of other species that have existed and become extinct. Great global warming is a website attempting to present information and articles on the global warming controversy with a focus on facts from the majority of climate experts and scientists that are often ignored by the dominant media outlets today. We think most people will be surprised to learn that there are facts and science about global warming and climate change that are rarely heard about and need to be considered.

FACT: The #1 source of global warming is the SUN. Without the SUN the earth would be a frozen rock in space.
FACT: The #1 greenhouse gas is water vapor - NOT Carbon Dioxide.
FACT: Global Warming, Global Cooling and Global Climate Change has been happening for millions of years - long before any possible human influence.
FACT: Antarctica's ICE sheet is growing/cooling - NOT shrinking.
FACT: Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is a naturally occuring green house gas which is helps plants grow - it is good for forests and crops.
FACT: There is NO scientific consensus that human caused CO2 is the cause of global warming.
FACT: The OCEAN naturally regulates and controls the amount of CO2. The ocean holds 50 times more carbon than the atmosphere. In fact, the Earth's carbon cycle is dominated by the ocean, which absorbs 50% of the CO2 released into the atmosphere by human activity. Carbon settling to the ocean bottom can eventually be stored for millions of years.
FACT: Human Caused CO2 is much smaller - in fact just a tiny percentage - than natural emissions of CO2.
FACT: Studies of Ice Core Samples show Carbon Dioxide TRAILING atmospheric temperatures - ie higher CO2 levels are the result of higher temperatures.
FACT: Global temperatures have been falling - not rising - since 1998.
FACT: atmospheric carbon dioxide has no significant influence on average global temperature. Examination of the temperature data of the last and prior glaciations from NOAA as determined from Vostok ice cores reveals that temperature trends reversed direction irrespective of carbon dioxide levels.
FACT: atmospheric amount of CO2 have risen and fallen far more dramatically in earlier centuries than they have in the last 100 years demonstrating (again) that it is a natural process.
FACT: It is far better to live on a warm planet than a cool planet - (remember the ICE AGE - when hundreds of species died in the freezing cold.) Once upon a time the United States had Camels, Mammoths and Saber-toothed cats. There were also a wonderful variety of dinosaurs that are now long gone.
FACT: The forces which drive the global climate and even local weather are complex and often unpredictable. Weather forecasts for just a small region of the globe (ie your state) are often wrong. Predicting the weather more than 15 days out is close to impossible. Since Climate Models (computer models of global climate projections) are a major basis of the current global warming scare it is ludicrous to presume that these same Climate Models can predict what the climate will be in 10, 20 or 50 years into the future. According the NOAA Climate Prediction center's own website: "All of the forecasts, however, have large uncertainties. In some cases uncertainties are gigantic, while in other cases they are only moderately large."

SUN FACTS
Without the heat from the sun - the earth would be a frozen rock in space. The sun is 750 times bigger than all of the planets in our solar system put together. The sun is so big that about 1,000,000 Earths could fit in the Sun. The sun's surface temperture is about 10,000 degrees farinheight. As every child understands, it is the heat from the sun that warms the earth. The sun is responsible for over 99% of all the global warming we have. The sun also has cycles - when it get hot - the earth gets hotter. The earth has warmed and cooled in cycles for millions of years.

Carbon dioxide is produced both naturally and by humans. (Humans create just a small fraction of the CO2 in the earth's atmosphere. There are much larger forces at work on this greenhouse gas!)

Yes, the earth is marvelously made so that greenhouse gases trap the heat and create a planet that supports an abundance of life - unlike any other we have seen in the universe. So make no mistake...greenhouse gases are wonderful - as is global warming. Global warming is great! For it is far better to have a warmer planet than a frozen rock to live on.

CLIMATE CHANGE is a WELL KNOW FACT

Warren Buffett's Charlie Munger says CAP AND TRADE is "Monstrously Stupid"

Berkshire Hathaway's (BRK) Charlie Munger says in an interview with CNBC that it'd be "Monsterously Stupid... almost demented" to do cap and trade, because it'd be a "huge shock to the economy," and it "wouldn't do much," since China emits the vast majority of CO2.

Given the fact that over 95% of Carbon Dioxide is produced by nature - not man - the expected decreases in CO2 forced by CAP IN TRADE (tax penalties) on US small businesses and corporations would likely be undectectable on a global basis. The only certain effect would be a decrease of income for businesses - harming our economy and our standard of living.

Keep in mind that C02 is absolutely essential and beneficial for plants - food crops, forests, etc.) and plants are absolutely necessary for our survival.

Indeed, increased C02 is more likely a benefit plants and all life on the world.

Yes, there has been global warming over the last century - of about 1 degree. * But that is nothing to worry about. Look back over the centuries of temperature data and you'll find much more drastic temperature swings than we have today. Remember, the earth and the sun were here long before mankind - and so were plants and dinasours and thousands of other life forms. The planet and atmosphere that supported life for millions of years has undergone great fluctuations in temperatures. Scientists can look back for centuries thanks to studies of ice core samples and geology. And what do the scientsits see? They see cycles of global warming and global cooling - indeed, much greater than we have now - all naturally occuring. The popluar idea that humans are now the primary cause of global warming or global climate change is purely foolishness. Humans can't change the earth's temperature anymore than we can stop the sun from shining. Yet somehow we're supposed to trust climate models that predict doom and gloom (from global warming) for the next 50 or 100 years when these models can't reliably predict the weather out past a week or 10 days! The only thing these masterminds of global weather models can predict is that their paychecks have been growing ever since Al Gore started to scare the public with their boldly unreliable predictions. And when worldwide fear combines with money - big money - we stumble upon what is the real motivation for the global warming champions - greed. Global warming is the great land of opportunity for scientists worldwide. Climate change has become a worldwide movement - almost a religion. Billions of dollars being pumped into research with thousands of jobs depending upon proving that humans are the cause of global warming.

But while human energy consumption is often blamed for global warming - in fact, human produced CO2 amounts to less .003% (less than 1/3 of 1 percent) of CARBON DIOXIDE in our atmosphere - an insignificant amount. Yet, somehow were are told that human's are the cause of global warming and if we simply change our energy consumption (switch to CFL lightbulbs, drive smaller cars, build more solar panels, etc) the entire planet would be saved from global warming. However, one "burb" from the sun (in the form a sunspot - or cooling cycle) would dwarf anything the entire human race could do.

*It should be noted that the last 11-year sub spot cycle just ended in 2007, and we have been at a Solar Minimum, meaning that there has been very little sun spot activity and at times, none at all. Simultaneously, the earth's temperature has declined in the past 2 years at the same time that sunspot activity has declined to a level not seen since the early 1900's.

WATER VAPOR is the #1 GREENHOUSE GAS
What is the #1 greenhouse gas? Water vapor. NOT Carbon Dioxide. CO2 is absolutely beneficial for life and good for the environment. Humans and animals breathe out CO2 - plants absorb and depend on CO2 to flourish and grow.

Water vapor and CO2 are both beneficial and essential for life on earth. Water vapor is most influential greenhouse gas on the planet. The fact is that water covers about 3/4 of the globe and as water evaporates it becomes part of the atmosphere. There is about 30 times as much water vapor in the air as carbon dioxide (CO2). The ocean is the biggest source of CO2 by far!

Water vapor in the atmosphere helps trap the suns heat which is reflected off the earth and helps keep the earth warm enough for life. Without water vapor we wouldn't have clouds or rain - and most plants and animals could not survive with out these things. About 80-90% of the Earth's natural greenhouse effect is due to water vapor. Water vapor also absorbs heat much more effectively than carbon dioxide. Water vapor absorbs three times as much radiation as CO2 - so it's a more powerful greenhouse gas too!

An amazing fact that we never hear about is that oceans regulate CO2. If humans output more CO2 the oceans will absorb it in a natural process which is continuous. The oceans (not people) are primarily what control the amount of carbon dioxide in the air. In fact, as the oceans heat up they release CO2. The reason why there has been an increase in carbon dioxide in the air over the past 150 years is because the oceans have been heating up, not because humans are producing more. And remember that the mass of water is much more powerful as a temperature conveyor than air.

How Al Gores Movie Inconvenient Truth is full of Lies

BRITISH Court Identifies Eleven Inaccuracies in Al Gore’s ‘An Inconvenient Truth’

  • The film claims that melting snows on Mount Kilimanjaro evidence global warming. The Government's expert was forced to concede that this is not correct.
  • The film suggests that evidence from ice cores proves that rising CO2 causes temperature increases over 650,000 years. The Court found that the film was misleading: over that period the rises in CO2 lagged behind the temperature rises by 800-2000 years.
  • The film uses emotive images of Hurricane Katrina and suggests that this has been caused by global warming. The Government's expert had to accept that it was "not possible" to attribute one-off events to global warming.
  • The film shows the drying up of Lake Chad and claims that this was caused by global warming. The Government's expert had to accept that this was not the case.
  • The film claims that a study showed that polar bears had drowned due to disappearing arctic ice. It turned out that Mr Gore had misread the study: in fact four polar bears drowned and this was because of a particularly violent storm.
  • The film threatens that global warming could stop the Gulf Stream throwing Europe into an ice age: the Claimant's evidence was that this was a scientific impossibility.
  • The film blames global warming for species losses including coral reef bleaching. The Government could not find any evidence to support this claim.
  • The film suggests that the Greenland ice covering could melt causing sea levels to rise dangerously. The evidence is that Greenland will not melt for millennia.
  • The film suggests that the Antarctic ice covering is melting, the evidence was that it is in fact increasing.
  • The film suggests that sea levels could rise by 7m causing the displacement of millions of people. In fact the evidence is that sea levels are expected to rise by about 40cm over the next hundred years and that there is no such threat of massive migration.
  • The film claims that rising sea levels has caused the evacuation of certain Pacific islands to New Zealand. The Government are unable to substantiate this and the Court observed that this appears to be a false claim.

What about Carbon Dioxide and our Carbon Footprint?
The short story is that carbon dioxide is a naturally occuring gas in our atmosphere and in fact is only a small component of our earth's atmosphere. Carbon dioxide is produced both naturally and by human but less than 1/3 of 1 percent of ALL CARBON DIOXIDE in our atmosphere is from human activity. Something called "Greenhouse Effect" is a naturally occuring effect in our atmosphere which helps trap the sun's heat - like a blanket - and keeps our earth warm and makes life possible on Earth. About 95 percent of the earth's atmospheric warming is due to the is Greenhouse Effect is due to water vapor, 99.999 percent of which is of natural origin.

Carbon dioxide (a "greenhouse gas") is not a pollution, it is completely natural and healthy part of our world's ecosystem. Carbon Dioxide is absolutely necessary for life. Human activites contribute only slightly to greenhouse gas concentrations through farming, manufacturing, power generation, and transportation. However, these emissions are so dwarfed in comparison to emissions from natural sources we can do nothing about, that even the most costly efforts to limit human emissions would have a very small -- perhaps undetectable -- effect on global climate.

A very important point of view which is often overlooked is that any global increase of carbon dioxide is what follows an increase in ocean temperatures. As scientist Gary Novak says: "All basic principles indicated that CO2 should increase with temperatures - as effect, not cause - because warmer oceans release more CO2. To pretend that CO2 causes the temperature increases just because of a correlation is not valid, because it is the reverse of what is expected from established principles."

"The real evidence shows that there is nearly twenty times as much CO2 moving into and out of the oceans as humans produce. It shows that there is 200 times as much carbon in the surface oceans as humans produce in a year."
http://nov55.com/gbwg.html

Global warming does happen! But so does global cooling. Our earth is a wild, natural thing and so big we cannot predict with certainty what the weather will be like in 2 weeks, not to mention in 50 or 100 years. The weather and climate has been and is always changing for centuries - every school child knows this. It took global warming to melt the giant glaciers from the Ice Age. Clearly that was not the result of human causes.

Global Climate Change and Global Warming have been occurring since the earth was formed - and long before the "carbon footprint" of humans could amount to the hot topic it currently is. Indeed, it was global warming that melted giant glaciers some 10,000 years ago...and thank goodness for that - otherwise we would all be driving snow mobiles to work instead of long gas guzzling SUV's!

Any Global Warming (or cooling) that may be occurring is most likely the result of natural, unstoppable and largely unpredictable causes - and the big "climate change" scare is really all about money, power and man's arrogance to think they understand and can control the world's climate processes - by spending our money. It's all about greed - not facts. When you here "Carbon Credits", "Cap in Trade" and the "Green Economy" - that's the sound of someone else taking your green (money) out of your pocket.

THE ACQUITTAL OF CARBON DIOXIDE

by Jeffrey A. Glassman, PhD

Carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is the product of oceanic respiration due to the well‑known but under‑appreciated solubility pump. Carbon dioxide rises out of warm ocean waters where it is added to the atmosphere. There it is mixed with residual and accidental CO2, and circulated, to be absorbed into the sink of the cold ocean waters. Next the thermohaline circulation carries the CO2‑rich sea water deep into the ocean. A millennium later it appears at the surface in warm waters, saturated by lower pressure and higher temperature, to be exhausted back into the atmosphere.

Throughout the past 420 millennia, comprising four interglacial periods, the Vostok record of atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration is imprinted with, and fully characterized by, the physics of the solubility of CO2 in water, along with the lag in the deep ocean circulation. Notwithstanding that carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas, atmospheric carbon dioxide has neither caused nor amplified global temperature increases. Increased carbon dioxide has been an effect of global warming, not a cause. Technically, carbon dioxide is a lagging proxy for ocean temperatures. When global temperature, and along with it, ocean temperature rises, the physics of solubility causes atmospheric CO2 to increase. If increases in carbon dioxide, or any other greenhouse gas, could have in turn raised global temperatures, the positive feedback would have been catastrophic. While the conditions for such a catastrophe were present in the Vostok record from natural causes, the runaway event did not occur. Carbon dioxide does not accumulate in the atmosphere.

SOLAR POWER - NOT SO GREEN AFTER ALL

While environmentalists tout the wonders of going GREEN ENERGYwith SOLAR POWER they overlook how solar energy panels can harm the environment.

16 BILLION GALLONS of WATER per YEAR - required for cooling of solar panels in the proposed southern Nevada desert solar energy farm. This is in a desert! The tremendous requirement for water would seriously degrade the surrounding water supply. In addition, tens of miles need to be scraped clean - ruining the desert habitat and harming animals and plants.
Yahoo - Harmful effects of Going GREEN with SOLAR POWER - require too much water and harmful for environment

SOLAR ENERGY PANELS POSE ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS

The production of solar panels produces toxic byproducts that could sicken living beings, warns the (Silicon Valley Toxics Coalition) SVTC. Among these are caustic liquids like silicon tetrachloride, dusts and nanoparticles like kerf (a remnant from cutting silicon ingots), and potent greenhouse gases like sulfur hexafluoride. Because of these negative environmental effects solar panels are largely produced in China, a country with little environmental standards to deal with.

SOLAR POWER has the excellent environmental reputation that comes from its lack of CO2 emissions, but careless onlookers might mistake solar’s CO2 reputation with a more general environmental harmlessness.

Regulation: The Environmental Protection Agency ruled Friday that carbon dioxide is a pollutant that must be regulated. Many are willing to pay the economic costs. Will they be willing to pay in lost lives, too? A 2002 study from the National Academy of Sciences determined that "the downweighting and downsizing that occurred in the late 1970s and early 1980s, some of which was due to CAFE standards, probably resulted in an additional 1,300 to 2,600 traffic fatalities in 1993."

ANTARCTIC ICE IS GROWING - NOT SHRINKING

The destabilisation of the Wilkins ice shelf in the western part of Antarctica generated international headlines recently. However, the big picture was not correctly reported by the media (as usual). East Antarctica, which includes the territory claimed by Australia is four times the size of west Antarctica and most of it is cooling.

As reported by The Austrailian
http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,25349683-30417,00.html

ICE is expanding in much of Antarctica, contrary to the widespread public belief that global warming is melting the continental ice cap.

The results of ice-core drilling and sea ice monitoring indicate there is no large-scale melting of ice over most of Antarctica, although experts are concerned at ice losses on the continent's western coast.

Antarctica has 90 per cent of the Earth's ice and 80 per cent of its fresh water. Extensive melting of Antarctic ice sheets would be required to raise sea levels substantially, and ice is melting in parts of west Antarctica. The destabilisation of the Wilkins ice shelf generated international headlines this month.

However, the picture is very different in east Antarctica, which includes the territory claimed by Australia.

East Antarctica is four times the size of west Antarctica and parts of it are cooling. The Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research report prepared for last week's meeting of Antarctic Treaty nations in Washington noted the South Pole had shown "significant cooling in recent decades".

Australian Antarctic Division glaciology program head Ian Allison said sea ice losses in west Antarctica over the past 30 years had been more than offset by increases in the Ross Sea region, just one sector of east Antarctica.

"Sea ice conditions have remained stable in Antarctica generally," Dr Allison said.

The melting of sea ice -- fast ice and pack ice -- does not cause sea levels to rise because the ice is in the water.

Dr Allison said there was not any evidence of significant change in the mass of ice shelves in east Antarctica nor any indication that its ice cap was melting. "The only significant calvings in Antarctica have been in the west," he said. And he cautioned that calvings of the magnitude seen recently in west Antarctica might not be unusual.

Ice core drilling in the fast ice off Australia's Davis Station in East Antarctica by the Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems Co-Operative Research Center shows that last year, the ice had a maximum thickness of 1.89m, its densest in 10 years. A paper to be published soon by the British Antarctic Survey in the journal Geophysical Research Letters is expected to confirm that over the past 30 years, the area of sea ice around the continent has expanded.

DUST RESPONSIBLE (Not People) for ATLANTIC OCEAN WARMING

As reported by LiveScience.com

The warming of Atlantic Ocean waters in recent decades is largely due to declines in airborne dust from African deserts and lower volcanic emissions, a new study suggests.

Since 1980, the tropical North Atlantic has been warming by an average of a half-degree Fahrenheit (a quarter-degree Celsius) per decade.

While that number may sound small, it can translate to big impacts on hurricanes, which are fueled by warm surface waters, said study team member Amato Evan of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. For example, the ocean temperature difference between 1994, a quiet hurricane year, and 2005's record-breaking year of storms (including Hurricane Katrina), was just 1 degree Fahrenheit.

Evan and his colleagues had previously shown that African dust and other airborne particles can suppress hurricane activity by reducing how much sunlight reaches the ocean and keeping the sea surface cool. Dusty years predict mild hurricane seasons, while years with low dust activity — including 2004 and 2005 — have been linked to stronger and more frequent storms.

In the new study, the researchers investigated the exact effect of dust and volcanic emissions on ocean temperatures. They combined satellite data of dust and other particles with existing climate models and calculated how much of the Atlantic warming observed during the last 26 years could be accounted for by simultaneous changes in African dust storms and tropical volcanic activity, primarily the eruptions of El Chichón in Mexico in 1982 and Mount Pinatubo in the Philippines in 1991.

The results: More than two-thirds of this upward trend in recent decades can be attributed to changes in African dust storm and tropical volcano activity during that time.

This was a surprisingly large amount, Evan said.

Satellite research of dust-storm activity is relatively young, and no one yet understands what drives dust variability from year to year. And volcanic eruptions are still relatively unpredictable.

"We don't really understand how dust is going to change in these climate projections, and changes in dust could have a really good effect or a really bad effect," Evan said.

How many other unknown factors in nature affect global warming and to what extent? This study should make global warming alarmist scientists question their opinion that it is humans that are a major cause of global warming - when it could be natural forces they just don't fully comprehend.

What's worse than Global Warming? How about Global Cooling? Remember the Ice Age? Pray for Global Warming...
Based on ice core samples from Russia's Vostok Station in Antarctica, we now know earth's atmosphere and temperature for the last 420,000 years. This major study (which you can read more about below) not had surprising and unexpected findings which have largely been kept quite. Not only do these ice core samples show the wide variation of global temperatures over time - but even wider fluctuations in temperatures than we are experiencing today - all during a time before the industrial revolution and any possibility of "human causation". Furthermore, the ice core samples do show a link between CO2 levels and global temperatures however the evidence indicates that CO2 levels follow the earth's temperature rise, not lead it. This could mean that warmer temperatures CAUSE more CO2 - not the opposite. It appears that CO2 fluctuations FOLLOW the change in sea temperature. As water temperatures rise, oceans release additional dissolved CO2 -- like opening a warm beer or soda pop releases the trapped bubbles of CO2. All this begs the question - if it's NOT CO2 (ie the nasty greenhouse gas humans are supposed to be so responsible for) which is causing the earth's temperature to rise - what else could it be? Most scientists (and most children) would say that only the sun could be responsible for any significant fluctuations in global temperatures.

In fact, there are many other scientists from diverse backgrounds as atmospheric physicists, climatologists, engineers, meteorologists, and paleo-climatologists, who do not believe the primary cause is mankind, although this could be part of it. Most of these scientists believe that the sun is at the root of the warming (if any), but that other factors are also at work. According to Dr. Kunihiko, Chancellor of Japan's Institute of Science and Technology: "CO2 emissions make absolutely no difference one way or the other ... every scientist knows this, but it doesn't pay to say so." Even the earth's temperature has risen 1 degree over the last 100 years (which is widely accepted as a fact) and even if this was 100% attributable to human causes, this is a trivial amount in the natural variation of the Earth, and to suggest the rise would accelerate 5 fold (IPCC best estimate) in this century is an incredible leap of imagination - to the point of exaggeration and foolishness.

Data Error: Arctic Sea Ice Extent Underestimated by 193,000 square Miles

Feb. 2009
The Artic Ice is Shrinking...NOT so much as reported
The National Snow and Ice Data Center (Boulder, Co) noticed that in February 2009 there was a significant problem with the daily sea ice data images. This error in data resulting in the UNDERSESTIMATION of Artic sea Ice to the tune of 193,000 square miles.

"At the end of January, the F15 sensor underestimated ice extent by 50,000 square kilometers (19,300 square miles) compared to F13. That is still within the margin of error for daily data. By mid-February, the difference had grown to 500,000 square kilometers (193,000 square miles), which is outside of expected error. "

The temporary error in the near-real-time data does not change the conclusion of the National Snow and Ice Data Center that Arctic sea ice extent has been declining for the past three decades.

Bottom line is that at least for now - there's 193,000 square miles more ice than they thought. Those polar bears will be glad about this!

Fluffy Toilet Paper Said to Be Worse for Environment Than Hummers

Wiping your bottom can cause global warming...and that's not including the methane gas produced after eating all those vegetarian tofu burittos! So once again human beings are destorying the world as we know it. It seems that the secret ingredient to that "high-end", extra soft and fluffy toilet paper (most of us prefer) is using the wood fiber taken from standing trees. As environmental correspondent from "The Guardian" Suzanne Goldenbery reports: "The tenderness of the delicate American buttock is causing more environmental devastation than the country's love of gas-guzzling cars..."

The evil Americans are at it again with all manner of excess. " Americans already consume vastly more paper than any other country — about three times more per person than the average European, and 100 times more than the average person in China." So next time you use that fancy soft toilet paper, do the environmentally sensitive thing...recycle.

Global Warming Questions and Answers...

There are 3 big parts to the heat we enjoy on earth
1) Heat from the SUN - the sun is about 27,000,000 Fahrenheit - it's so hot that even at 93 million miles away it warms the earth up everyday - and without it's heat - there would be no global warming and there would be no people.

If you could ask the cavemen from the ice age, that struggled to survive and where many species became extinct - global warming is a good thing - we should enjoy and celebrate it...and in fact, it is as "green" as the sunshine.

2) Heat retained by the Earth's Atmosphere through what is known as the "Greenhouse effect" which involves a variety of greenhouse gases that trap and retain heat in our atmosphere. The primary gas which contributes to the Greenhouse effect is WATER VAPOR (not carbon dioxide).

3) Heat from the Earth's oceans and landmass ( the massive oceans which cover 3/4 of the earth absorb and move heat through its currents) Many scientists think the oceans are much more important on affecting long term global temperatures because it takes much more energy to heat or cool water than it does air.

The SUN is the most important force and cause global warming here on earth. Yes, our atmosphere is vital but without the sun the earth's average global temperature would be about the same temperature of space which is about 475 degrees below zero. Even a child can understand that when the earth is exposed to the sun - it warms up - and has done so every day for millions (if not billions) of years. The sun is responsible for over 99% of all the global warming we have.

The SUN is the power source for the heat we enjoy on this earth = and it is a very big, very wild and uncontrollable object. The SUN has it's own cycles and frequently explodes with massive violence - emitting enormous sun flares that can reach many millions of degrees. The fact that the SUN is so big that it could contain 1 million earth's and is what heat's up the earth everyday should lead any child to conclude that the SUN is very likely the cause of any global warming that may be occurring we have experienced.

What are the "Greenhouse Gases" that contribute to global warming?
The major greenhouse gasses are Water vapor, Carbon Dioxide, Methane and N20. However, WATER VAPOR (not carbon dioxide) is the #1 greenhouse gas and accounts for about 95% of the earth's greenhouse effect. Indeed, water vapor makes up 95% of all greenhouse gas and is 99.999% natural. The percentage of human caused carbon dioxide that we hear about so much in the news amounts to less than 1/3 of 1 percent of all greenhouse gasses. In fact the PRIMARY CAUSE of global warming has to do with the nature world - that is the SUN and the earth's orbital eccentricities (atmospheric and tectonic) and variations in the Sun's "heat" output.

Facts on our Atmosphere...

Water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, and other gases in the atmosphere trap heat from the sun, warming Earth (sort of like a blanket). The heat-trapping quality of these gases are known as the greenhouse effect. Without the greenhouse effect of the atmosphere, Earth would probably be too cold for life to exist.

About 15 percent of the sun's energy that hits the earth is reflected back into space. Another 30 percent is used to evaporate water, which, lifted into the atmosphere, produce's rain-fall. Solar energy also is absorbed by plants, the land, and the oceans.

Carbon dioxide is absolutely necessary and good for life on earth and it is invisible.

The world's natural wetlands produce more greenhouse gas contributions annually than all human sources combined.

Carbon dioxide is a very small component of Earth's atmosphere (380 parts per million or 0.038%) which amounts to less than 1/10th of 1% of the Earth's Atmosphere.

http://www.geocraft.com/WVFossils/GlobWarmTest/A6c.html

Global temperatures have only risen about 1° F over the last 100 years. Temperatures have gone through nearly two complete cycles of warming and cooling over the last 100 years. During the period 1900 to 1940 temperatures were increasing. Then from 1940 to 1980 temperatures were decreasing. Currently, temperatures are increasing back to about where they were in the 1930's.

Carbon dioxide from coal-fired power plants does NOT damage forests - Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the principal gas that trees and other plants need to survive, just like oxygen (O2) is the principal gas that humans and other animals require. Trees absorb CO2 and release O2-- animals inhale O2 and exhale CO2. See how nice this all works!.

NO CONCENSUS from scientists about Human caused GLOBAL WARMING
Over 17,000 scientists have signed the Global Warming Petition to express their view that "there is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate."

You want facts about global warming and climate change? You're at the right place.

DID YOU KNOW???

The Sun is ENORMOUS and HOT!
The Sun is 93 million miles away from earth and about 27,000,000 Fahrenheit at the core.

The SUN is about 870,000 miles in diameter.
The Earth is less than 8,000 miles in diameter.

The Sun contains 99.8% of the mass of our entire solar system. Sun is so much more massive than the Earth (over 300,000 times heavier) its gravitational pull is also much larger. A child that weighs 75 pounds on Earth would weigh about a ton on the Sun.

Without the Sun, life on Earth would not exist. Our planet would be a frozen dark ball, drifting dead in space. We need the Sun for light, heat and energy. With the Sun, plants can grow, and animals can eat. The Sun's output changes over time. These changes affect not only our daily lives and climate, but also our communications, such as by satellites. The more we know about the Sun, the better we can deal with these changes.

SUNSPOTS and SOLAR CYCLES
Sunspots have been monitored since around 1610, shortly after the invention of the telescope. They provide a long-running direct measurement of the sun's activity. While the number of sunspots each year varies significantly, and over the centuries it appears sunspots have an 11-year cycle of activity from peak to trough.

According to NASA...There was a "sunspot gap"(where there were no sun spots observed) between 1645-1715 which corresponded to what is known as "the Little Ice Age".
Late 17th century astronomers observed that no sunspots existed on the Sun’s surface during the time period from 1650 to 1715 AD. This lack of solar activity, which some scientists attribute to a low point in a multiple-century-long cycle, may have been partly responsible for the Little Ice Age in Europe. During this period, winters in Europe were much longer and colder than they are today.

Solar activity data appears to indicate that over the last century the number of sunspots rose in number and intensity. At the same time that the Earth's climate became steadily warmer.

SOLAR FLARES
The most violent events on the surface of the Sun are sudden eruptions called solar flares. Flares typically last a few minutes and can release energies equivalent to millions of hydrogen bombs.

ICE AGES
About 12,000 years ago North America experienced an "Ice Age". During this time, almost all of Canada and the Northern US was covered in a huge sheet of ice about a mile thick! What melted those massive glaciers? Perhaps the sun? It certainly wasn't SUV's!

TAX COWS and PIGS because of their BURPS and FARTS! - As stupid as they can get - our government officials.

Now the environmental wackos at the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture want to TAX COWS and PIGS because of their FARTS!!

Under the proposal, if a state charged the “presumptive minimum rate” from the EPA, the cow tax would be $175 per dairy cow, $87.50 per head for beef cattle and a little more than $20 per pig,” Krause (from the Wyoming Farm Bureau) explained.

Krause explained that the U.S. Department of Agriculture says that a producer with more than 25 dairy cows, 50 beef cattle or 200 hogs would emit more than 100 tons of carbon and be subject to the permitting requirements.  “These thresholds would impact 99 percent of dairy producers, over 90 percent of beef producers and 95 percent of hog producers in the United States,” Krause stated.

According to Krause, the EPA has issued an Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking in preparation to regulate automobile greenhouse gas emissions under the Clean Air Act (CAA).  “The regulation of automobile emissions automatically initiates other provisions of the CAA,” Krause explained.  “One of those provisions requires permits from anyone who emits more than 100 tons of a regulated pollutant per year and there are millions of sources that emit more than 100 tons of carbon.”

The Title V permits, that are essentially a cow and pig tax, are supposed to contain provisions designed to reduce or eliminate the emissions of the regulated pollutant.  Cows and pigs methane emissions are completely natural...they come from farts...duh. Animals have been doing this for millions of years. What's next - taxing all zoos? How about taxing all people that frequent Taco Bell?

The economic costs to producers from the cow and pig tax would be great and could cause the cost of beef, pork and dairy prices to rise...which would hurt many Americans in these tough economic times. If meat prices rise Americans will switch over to eating more vegetables which in turn would cause more farts from people - which could lead (logically) to a new tax on all people because of these our own methane emissions. Something stinks big time about all this...the EPA.

Is there no limit to this nonsense?

MAJOR GLOBAL WARMING STUDY of ICE CORE SAMPLES Surprises Scientists

GLOBAL WARMING SCIENTISTS DISCOVER PROOF OF RAPID (NATURAL) GLOBAL WARMING FROM ICE CORE SAMPLES
The "Greenland Ice Core Project" (GRIP) has revealed hard data and facts from leading scientists which virtually disproves the concept that global warming is "human caused". The principle objective of the “Greenland Ice Core Project” (GRIP) investigated the climatic and environmental changes of the past 250,000 years by drilling and analyzing an ice core in the central part of the Greenland ice sheet. This research project involved 20 laboratories from eight European nations (Denmark, Switzerland, France, Germany, United Kingdom, Italy, Iceland and Belgium).

"Studies of isotopes and various atmospheric constituents in the core have revealed a detailed record of climatic variations reaching more than 100,000 years back in time. The results indicate that Holocene climate has been remarkably stable and have confirmed the occurrence of rapid climatic variation during the last ice age (the Wisconsin Ice age - about 10,000 years ago). Climatic instability observed in the core part believed to date from the Eemian interglacial (a period of time about 130000-110000 years ago)..."

The most dramatic finding from GRIP was that of the rapid climate changes (Dansgaard-Oeschger events) in the last glacial period. The Dansgaard-Oeschger events are rapid climate fluctuations that occurred 25 times from about 20,000 to 110,000 years ago. These had been observed in previous cores, but GRIP confirmed their existence, their number, and the extreme rapidity of their onset in unprecedented detail.

What did they find in their studies of these ice core samples? In summary, they found hard data of rapid global warming which occured over 10,000 and even 130,000 years ago. This obviously occurred far before the modern "industrial age". In other words, Global Warming is a natural - not human-caused - phenomenon.

The world has never seen such freezing heat

By Christopher Booker

A surreal scientific blunder last week raised a huge question mark about the temperature records that underpin the worldwide alarm over global warming. On Monday, Nasa's Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), which is run by Al Gore's chief scientific ally, Dr James Hansen, and is one of four bodies responsible for monitoring global temperatures, announced that last month was the hottest October on record. This was startling. Across the world there were reports of unseasonable snow and plummeting temperatures.

The reason for the freak figures (blunder) was that scores of temperature records from Russia and elsewhere were not based on October readings at all. Figures from the previous month had simply been carried over and repeated two months running. If there is one scientist more responsible than any other for the alarm over global warming it is Dr Hansen.

Yet last week's latest episode is far from the first time Dr Hansen's methodology has been called in question. In 2007 he was forced by Mr Watts and Mr McIntyre to revise his published figures for US surface temperatures, to show that the hottest decade of the 20th century was not the 1990s, as he had claimed, but the 1930s.

> Read full article of Dr. Hansen's most recent blunder and seemingly apparent attempt to manipulate results toward "global warming".

Why all the fuss about Global Warming and Climate Change if it's been around for millions of years?
In three words...Money...Power...Arrogance. Global Warming is BIG business...taking your money in taxes and fees and transferring it to those world organizations, scientists, politicians, "green" businesses and groups that stand to benefit from having all that money and power...using false and arrogant claims that they know - they know best - how to spend your money to control the world's climate - when they can't even predict the weather next week - not to mention control the weather on any level whatsoever!

Vaclav Klaus, the President of the Czech Republic sees through the global warming fraud...

"Global warming is a myth and I think that every serious person and scientist says so. It is unfair to refer to the United Nations panel. IPCC is not a scientific body: it's a political institution, a kind of non-government organization with green flavor. It's not a forum of neutral scientists or a balanced group of scientists. Its members are politicized scientists who arrive there with one-sided sentiments and one-sided tasks.

Global warming is a false myth and every serious person and scientist says so. It is not fair to refer to the U.N. panel. These people are politicized scientists who arrive there with a one-sided opinion and a one-sided assignment.

When Klaus was questioned: "Don't we have empirical evidence and facts accessible to our eyes that imply that Man is ruining the planet and himself?"

His answer was: "It's such a nonsense that I have probably not yet heard a greater nonsense."

Thank you Klaus for setting the record straight!!!

DON'T EAT MEAT for GLOBAL WARMING
According to PETA: "...not eating meat is "the single most effective thing" you can do to reduce your climate change impact."

How crazy is that?? Of course, you shouldn't kill any animals - so forget about leather shoes, belts, furniture, coats, etc...

Actually there's something more we could do...because eating VEGETABLES ONLY causes most humans to fart...ie - produce methane gas. And Methane gas is 25 times more potent than carbon dioxide...so we would produce much more methane.

Taken to it's logical conclusion...therefore WE SHOULD NOT EAT ANYTHING and perhaps stop breathing out carbon dioxide while we're at it? If do those two things perhaps we can save the world from global warming.

Humans are the enemy - the earth is under attack...so limits on human behavior, population, car sizes etc are sought after by the same crowd of elites that fly in their private jets to lecture us all on how we should pay more taxes, cut back on our eating and driving habits etc. Give us a break!

CAP IN TRADE - (Just a fancy name for a terrible "tax increase" that will cause your energy costs to soar.)

And from the Wall Street Journal:
GUESS WHAT? CAP-AND-TRADE WILL MAKE AMERICANS POORER
By Stephen Power

The budget assumes the U.S. adopts the cap-and-trade system that would set limits on the amount of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases that industries can emit, and allow companies to buy and sell rights to emit those gases. The budget assumes a starting price of $20 per ton for carbon emissions, an amount that Mr. Obama’s aides says is conservative and would likely rise.

The cap-and-trade system is a key part of Mr. Obama’s broader strategy to reduce U.S. emissions of carbon dioxide by roughly 80% from 2005 levels by 2050. To help achieve that goal, Mr. Obama wants to spend some of the money raised through the auction of emissions permits for research and development of low-carbon energy technologies, such as windmills, electric cars or more efficient power grids and buildings.

But some question the government’s ability to spend all that money wisely. It is also unclear whether lawmakers will be able to resist diverting money to causes that have little to do with fighting climate change, such as deficit reduction. “Let’s just be honest and call it a carbon tax that will increase taxes on all Americans who drive a car, who have a job, who turn on a light switch, pure and simple,” said the Republican leader in the House, Rep. John Boehner of Ohio.

A fundamental question is how the government will distribute the billions of dollars in revenue generated through a emissions trading system. Lawmakers from states dependent on coal and heavy manufacturing are expected to demand that more money go toward their constituents, since they will experience higher costs associated with the transition to low-carbon energy sources.

Mr. Obama’s budget also calls for new fees and taxes on oil companies that drill on federal lands, and for closing various tax credits that the industry currently qualifies for—a step the administration says would raise about $30 billion over a decade. Beginning in 2011, Mr. Obama would assess a new excise tax on oil and gas production in the Gulf of Mexico to close what Mr. Obama’s aides say are loopholes that have give companies “excessive royalty relief.”

Oil-industry officials said Mr. Obama’s proposals would encourage the industry to shift production—and jobs—abroad. “With America in the midst of an economic recession, now is not the time to impose new taxes on the nation’s oil and natural gas industry,” Jack Gerard, president of the American Petroleum Institute, said in a written statement.

FORGET GLOBAL WARMING! 2008 WAS THE COLDEST WINTER IN 50 YEARS

2008 has seen one of the coldest and devastating winters in 50 years...worldwide. From Brazil to China, Chili to Wisconsin, England to Afganistan - we've seen world record (and near record) cold weather blamed for hundreds of deaths (107 in China alone) and unknown amount of economic losses. But what happened to manmade global warming and the record warm winter predicted by our "so-called" weather experts? They were wrong - (View Predictions of record warm temperatures for 2007) In fact, for nearly a decade, there has been no global warming. Even though atmospheric carbon dioxide continues to accumulate - it's up about 4 percent since 1998 - the global mean temperature has remained flat. Remember the fears about melting Artic Ice and drowning polar bears? Guess what...the vanishing artic sea ice of 2007 is now back to it's normal previous level. Gee...who predicted that? No one. In fact, it was just the opposite - with global warming "experts" predicting record low artic sea ice.

FORESTS INDUSTRY - A HERO - NOT A VILLIAN

The Nation’s forests are a rich natural resource, providing beauty and tranquility, varied recreational benefits, and wood for commercial use. Environmentalists continually harp about the evils being wrought upon forests worldwide and in the United States. It should be noted that the U.S. Forest Industry does an amazing job of preserving forests at the same time they harvest them for the valuable products we all need.

  • Each year Americans plant at least 1.6 billion trees or about 6 trees for each one we use.  Of this total, forest products companies plant about half, or three quarters of a billion trees, annually.  These figures actually understate the nation's true reforestation rate as they don't include millions of hardwood trees that are not planted because they regrow naturally.
  • An average of almost 5,000,000 new trees are planted each day in the U.S.
  • Partly as a result of a strong reforestation record, the growth of U.S. forests annually exceeds the amount harvested by 33%  confirming that trees are a renewable resource and that we are renewing them.
  • There is an important but often overlooked distinction between deforestation and timber harvesting.  Developing countries sometimes clear land of trees (deforest) for agriculture, grazing and other uses.  But in the U.S., woodlands are typically managed and reforested after harvest so as to grow future forests.  We call this sustainable forestry.   In fact, the U.S. today has virtually the same number of forested acres it had in 1920  despite the enormous increase in population and per capita wood use since then.  We are not deforesting the United States.  We are voluntarily replacing what we use, and without government regulation.

Information from: http://www.bugwood.org/intensive/forest_tree_planting.html

Who plants the most trees in the U.S.?
Forest industry plants 45%, non-industrial private owners plant 42%, the National Forest System plants 6%, other government and industries plant 7%.

The forestry industry provides jobs for about 88,000 U.S. workers. This industry should be celebrated for the wonderful work it does.

Global Warming
Is carbon dioxide produced by humans the cause of Global Warming? Nobel Prize winners, experts and many scientists have launched a worldwide campaign to "save the planet" from the catostrophic and devastating effects that global warming. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) predicts billions of people face drought and food shortages because of the predicted rising temperatures. The United Nations is demanding 86$ billion in funding to deal with the future climate change crisis. To make it more interesting there are notable scientists debunk these claims of "human caused" Global Warming - calling Global Warming a hoax. In fact, over 400 leading researchers and scientists have challenged the assertion that man-made global warming endangers the planet.

"I find the Doomsday picture Al Gore is painting — a six-meter sea level rise, 15 times the IPCC number — entirely without merit," said Dutch atmospheric scientist Hendrik Tennekes.

According to the Washington Times, 2007 was a year of Global Cooling for much of the world.
"Since the mid-19th century, the mean global temperature has increased by 0.7 degrees Celsius. This slight warming is not unusual, and lies well within the range of natural variation. Carbon dioxide continues to build in the atmosphere, but the mean planetary temperature hasn't increased significantly for nearly nine years. While the artic ice is melting...Antarctica is getting colder and in 2007 South America has experienced one of its coldest winters in decades. Unexpected bitter cold swept the entire Southern Hemisphere in 2007. Johannesburg, South Africa, had the first significant snowfall in 26 years. Australia experienced the coldest June ever. In northeastern Australia, the city of Townsville underwent the longest period of continuously cold weather since 1941. In New Zealand, the weather turned so cold that vineyards were endangered."

"Recent weeks have seen the return of unusually cold conditions to the Northern Hemisphere. On Dec. 7, St. Cloud, Minn., set a new record low of minus 15 degrees Fahrenheit. On the same date, record low temperatures were also recorded in Pennsylvania and Ohio."

"Extreme cold weather is occurring worldwide. On Dec. 4, in Seoul, Korea, the temperature was a record minus 5 degrees Celsius. Nov. 24, in Meacham, Ore., the minimum temperature was 12 degrees Fahrenheit colder than the previous record low set in 1952. The Canadian government warns that this winter is likely to be the coldest in 15 years."

Climate Change is the Norm
One thing is certain is that "change" is the norm in our life and in our world. Our weather and climate are always changing and will continue to change and have changing dramatically over millions of years. With any change comes the challenge to adapt. In the past, climate changes have resulted in extinction of entire species - and at the same time provided opportunites for the survivors and those able to adapt to change.

"Climate changes in the past over Geological time periods (millions and tens of millions of years) have been very drastic. During cold periods, much of the planet, even thousands of miles from both poles have been ice-covered by huge glaciers and during warm periods, the same regions may have been sub-tropical or even tropical. Accompanying this have been large changes in sea-level so that some areas of land have either become flooded completely or left high and dry."

Who is right? Who is wrong? Should we be afraid? What should we do? Is the Global Warming scare a scam? People, money, crops, animals, plants and perhaps human civilization itself hang in the balance. GreatGlobalWarming.com is dedicated to answering these questions and providing you with the facts about Global Warming.

Fact #1: Global Warming is great...enjoy it! Without global warming the earth would be a frozen, lifeless rock floating in space. To help those kids (and adults) that have been misled or confused...let's make something very clear... the earth's climate is extremely complex and no one can accurately predict the weather (not to mention the global climate changes) any more than a week or two in advance.

The earth is so huge and dynamic that computer models regularly bring back seasonal predictions which are grossly inaccurate. There are forces at work scientists simply don't know about or understand yet. For instance, studies of ice core samples that date back over 400,000 years show dramatic changes in temperature with increases in carbon dioxide seeming to mirror increases in temperature. But no one knows why. No one knows if it's higher temperatures that cause increases in carbon dioxide or just the opposite.

While it's popular to want to blame human pollution and carbon dioxide output for global warming there are serious scientific arguments against that theory. Not the least of which is that according to NASA satellite data over the last 9 years it's not happening. Yes, we see melting of glaciers at the north pole but just the opposite is happening in the Antarctic. In fact, the vast majority of the Antarctic landmass is rapidly gaining ice and snow cover.
According to NASA scientists:

"Sea Ice May Be on Increase in the Antarctic ...in the Southern Ocean, with increased precipitation rates and deeper snow, the additional load of snow becomes so heavy that it pushes the Antarctic sea ice below sea level. This results in even more and even thicker sea ice when the snow refreezes as more ice."

> source - NASA antarctic ice growing

Of course, the earth has had long periods of Global Warming and Global Cooling. In fact, Global Cooling would be much more devastating for mankind. Imagine...giant glaciers, increasingly cold temperatures worldwide and lowering plant and food production which global cooling would cause. That's exactly what happened during the Giant Ice Age and many species were made extinct from the harshness of those climate changes...certainly, global warming is preferable. Could the real cause for Global warming be that big hot bright thing in the sky... called the Sun? The power of the sun dwarfs anything humans could contribute to heating our atmosphere and it's been warming the earth for millions of years. There's more than one side of the story on this important issue...we're here to bring it.

What about water vapor and Global Warming?
We'll say it again because this is important to the discussion...remember...99.999 percent of the atmosphere's warming is from all natural water vapor. Carbon-dioxide emissions due to human activity only account for about one tenth of one percent of greenhouse gasses. But of that miniscule percentage of carbon dioxide which humans contribute to - what can we do and will it have any impact? When there are major forces at work - such as the sun, the oceans, water vapor and even fires. In fact, scientists estimated that in one week, Southern California's wildfires spewed the same amount of carbon dioxide _ the primary global warming gas _ as the state's power plants and vehicles did.

"On average, wildfires in the United States each year pump 322 million tons of carbon dioxide. That's about 5 percent of what the country emits by burning fossil fuels, such as gasoline and coal, according to the new research published online Thursday in the peer-reviewed journal Carbon Balance and Management."

Factoring in the other greenhouse gases, the total human contribution to the greenhouse effect is about 0.3 percent. In other words, about 99.7 percent of the greenhouse effect is due entirely to nature. It's this 3% of carbon dioxide that humans cause which some scientists claim causes global warming and threatens our world. But common sense and review of the facts - including study of 400,000 years of core samples which clearly indictate the earth has had global warming, global cooling (remember the Ice Age) and dramatic climate changes without any possible influence of human caused global warming. Yes, the climate changes - and always has...we just have to deal with it.

Fact #2: Yes, Global Warming is caused by the Sun. In case you were never taught this in school...the Sun is what heats the earth. The Sun is about 10,000 degrees worth of hot...and HUGE...about 1 million times as big as the earth. Oh...and Global Warming is nothing new. Global Warming has been going on for 100's of thousands and likely millions of years...all without any help from human produced carbon dioxide that you hear so much talk about today.

With all the hysterical news, misinformation and hype surrounding the "threat" of global warming would simply like to say...that Global Warming is Great - be thankful it's not 475 degrees below zero (which is what it would be without the SUN).

FOREST FIRES - not so Trival for CARBON DIOXIDE EMISSIONS

For every acre of forest that burns naturally, the carbon dioxide emissions are equivalent to two cars driven for a year.

California wildfires out-emitted all the cars in California in 2007 by a factor of 3 or 4 times.
http://westinstenv.org/ffsci/2008/03/14/the-forest-carbon-and-emissions-model-fcem/

Furthermore, the US purposefully sets about 6 million acres of prescribed burning per year...thats worth about 12 million cars/per of carbon dioxide. According to the National Interagency Fire Center, the 2006 fire season witnesseed over 96,000 fires burning over 9.87acres. Alaskan wildfires alone contribute up to 27 percent of the nation's yearly fire-related carbon dioxide emissions.

2007 Fire Stats
Wildland Fires/Acres - 79,727 fires burned 8,915,700 acres
Prescribed Fires/Acres - 23,530 fires burned 2,969,429 acres
Wildland Fire Use/Acres - 341 fires burned 419,685 acres

TOTAL ACRES burned in 2007: 12,304,814 - equivalent to 24 million cars worth of annual carbon dioxide pollution ... now THAT'S SOME KIND OF CARBON FOOTPRINT!
++ Keep in mind ... this is all just the US.

Mercury, Toxins and other things humans can thank nature for...
It's not just humans that put toxins into our environment - you can blame nature too. Good old "mother earth" is a polluter in a major way, thanks to forest fires. Worldwide biomass burning is estimated to contribute up to 50%, 40%, 25% and 16% of the annual human-made emission of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, mercury and methane. Mercury? Yes, wildfires emit Mercury too. Dangerous stuff. Mercury's what they call a hazmat team in to remove if some kid in school drops a thermometer in science class.

And according to a 2007 research study, forest fires release more mercury into the atmosphere than previously thought. Mercury, released into the atmosphere falls back onto Earth and accumulates, particularly in North American wetlands and also ends up in our food chain. Fires and other blazes emit 30 percent as much mercury as industrial sources according to recent studies.

> Scientists Estimate Mercury Emissions from U.S. Forest Fires

> Studies on Fire, Mercury and our atmosphere

Worldwide biomass burning may also a major source of reactive chlorine (Cl) that participates actively in the chemical cycles of air pollution. Researchers concluded that biomass burning" appears to be the single largest, known source of atmospheric CH3Cl [methyl chloride; estimated to contribute about 640,000 tons of Cl per year] and a major source of inorganic Cl in many continental regions."

Facts: NO correlation between Carbon Dioxide and Global Temperature over the Last Decade

November 27, 2007

Is anyone listening? There is NO correlation found between carbon dioxide and global temperature. That's what Joseph D'Aleo, CMM concluded following a recent study of satellite data on global Temperature and Carbon Dioxide levels. As he says...

"Temperature peaked in 1998 and have shown no warming for a decade now. Many scientists have been remarking about this trend for several years but no one takes heed, preferring to believe models than actual data. Here is the satellite derived global temperature trend since 1979. Note the cooling globally near the volcanically active periods of the early 1980s and 1990s. Note also the warm spike associated with the super El Nino that seemingly marked the beginning of the end of the warm Pacific trend that began in 1978."

"Temperature peaked in 1998 and have shown no warming for a decade now. Many scientists have been remarking about this trend for several years but no one takes heed, preferring to believe models than actual data...(the debate about) Global warming is over. Man is not responsible."

Who is Joseph D'Aleo and does he know what he's talking about?
Among other qualifications, Mr. Joseph D’Aleo was the first Director of Meteorology at the cable TV Weather Channel. He has over 30 years experience in professional meteorology. Mr. D’Aleo is a Certified Consultant Meteorologist and was elected a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society (AMS). He has served as a member and then chairman of the American Meteorological Society’ Committee on Weather Analysis and Forecasting, and has co-chaired national conferences for both the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association. Mr. D’Aleo was elected a Councilor for the AMS.

The Sky is NOT FALLING... GLOBAL WARMING is the GREATEST SCAM in HUMAN HISTORY

November, 2007
Global Warming ScamFOUNDER OF THE WEATHER CHANNEL SPEAKS OUT
A TV Weatherman since 1953, John has been a TV weatherman in Champaign, Peoria and Chicago, Illinois; Omaha, Nebraska, Milwaukee, Wisconsin and New York City. For seven years he was the weatherman on "Good Morning, America" on the ABC Network. John also was cofounder of "The Weather Channel" on cable.

The Greatest SCAM in history is what John calls the fear and media hype that's going on about Global Warming. Mr. Coleman can barely believe how many people have fallen for the global warming claims and predictions of disaster. Coleman said that climate change is a big lie. Coleman, a weatherman himself who founded the Weather Channel, claims to have read dozens of scientific papers and spoke with numerous scientists, and they also agree that there is no such thing as global warming. Calling global warming and climate change one a scam, Coleman believes that in time the climate theory will be proven to be a scam when none of the predicted catastrophic events actually materialize.

"William Gray, meteorology professor emeritus at Colorado State... (Post / Kathryn Scott Osler) «12»The words "global warming" provoke a sharp retort from Colorado State University meteorology professor emeritus William Gray: "It's a big scam." "

Christopher Essex, a mathematician at the University of Western Ontario in Canada explains there are serious problems with climate models. "The models are trying to project a future world...without a complete theoretical base on how climate works and the risk of small errors being amplified."

"The Earth does have natural cycles of cooling and warming - during the past 740,000 years there have been eight cycles with four ice ages. "

Planetary Carbon Sequestration: Earth's Biosphere Flexes Its Muscles
Our BIOSPHERE is much more powerful than some would imagine.

Averaged over the globe, the anthropogenic CO2 emission rate has risen nearly 40% over the past two decades, yet the rate at which CO2 is accumulating in the atmosphere has remained constant or even slightly declined. Why?

Another Perspective on CORAL REEFS and CO2

Part of the global warming alarmists perspective on Corals is as follows...

"Coral will be the first global ecosystem to collapse in our lifetimes due to warming ocean temperatures and increasing acidification is making the oceans uninhabitable for corals and other marine species... When CO2 in the atmosphere reaches a concentration of 450 to 500 parts per million (ppm), the oceans will mostly be too acidic for corals to grow. Warmer ocean temperatures of just one or two degrees above normal can not only can cause coral bleaching but also make corals vulnerable to even lower levels of acidification....We are witnessing the end of corals as a major feature in the oceans."

"The faint hope for corals is for global society to realise climate change is "a code red emergency" and cut carbon emissions to zero and start reducing the concentrations in the atmosphere right away, he said. "Otherwise in 30 years or so corals will be so thin and brittle if you breathe on them they will fall over."

http://ipsnews.net/news.asp?idnews=42464

Thus it is asserted that increased CO2 output by humans and related increased aborbtion of CO2 by the oceans creates a more acidic and lethal environment for corals worldwide. Once again humans are at the root of this evil. But there is more to this story we never hear about...

Corals are some of the oldest know organisms with deep sea corals reputed to be in existance for 200-400 million years. They are hardy organisms and have survived a wide variety of climate changes.

REVIEWING THE FACTS of CORAL REEFS

The coral reefs:
1) Corals have been around for about 400 million years
2) Modern day reef builders of the Scleractinic coral family have been around for 250 million years
3) Climate (ice ages - tropical) and sea levels (+/-500') has been radical over geological time
4) After 17 major oceanic and climatic earth changes of the past 250 million years, the reef building corals are still with us - they are very resilient to extreme change
5) Modern corals have undergone their greatest growth rates and distribution during the warmest of the geological climatic periods
6) We are in a inter-glacial period now, which means that one way or another the planet will experience another ice age - this is 'normal'
7) Ice ages are preceded by, and end with, global warming - this is the normal macro oscillation throughout Earth's climatic history. Micro oscillations also occur within each macro period (minor Earth cooling and heating periods)
8) Careful studies of the calcification rates of corals have shown much greater coral growth decreases in the 17th and 18th centuries as compared to today's rates, which further complicates the understanding of the direct effect of atmospheric CO2 and weather on coral - but demonstrates the micro oscillations of weather and other environmental factors
9) Scientific studies of calcification rates for the past 237 years indicates that the present decline in coral growth can be viewed as a return to a slower and more 'normal' rate of growth as experienced in the past
10) Coral reefs have been compared to tropical rain forests for their biodiversity. It has also been proven that reefs, like the forests, are great depositors of atmospheric CO2, and therefore deserve the same considerations for conservation and expansion.

LAWRENCE SOLOMON, Financial Post

Claude Allegre, one of France's leading socialists and among her most celebrated scientists, was among the first to sound the alarm about the dangers of global warming. That was 15 years ago. Dr. Allegre was among the 1500 prominent scientists who signed "World Scientists' Warning to Humanity," a highly publicized letter stressing that global warming's "potential risks are very great" and demanding a new caring ethic that recognizes the globe's fragility in order to stave off "spirals of environmental decline, poverty, and unrest, leading to social, economic and environmental collapse."

Today is an entirely different story...why? Because of data. "...the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change commissioned billions of dollars worth of research by thousands of scientists and now with a wealth of data now in, Dr. Allegre has recanted his views. To his surprise, the many climate models and studies failed dismally in establishing a man-made cause of catastrophic global warming. Meanwhile, increasing evidence indicates that most of the warming comes of natural phenomena. Dr. Allegre now sees global warming as over-hyped and an environmental concern of second rank.

September, in an article entitled "The Snows of Kilimanjaro" in l' Express, the French weekly. His article cited evidence that Antarctica is gaining ice and that Kilimanjaro's retreating snow caps, among other global-warming concerns, come from natural causes. "The cause of this climate change is unknown," he states as a matter of fact. There is no basis for saying, as most do, that the "science is settled."

Amazon Forests Green-Up During 2005 Drought

October 2007

The Amazon rain forest appears to be stronger and more resiliant to climate change than previously thought. A recent study based on nine years of the satellite observations focusing on the Amazon rain forest have resulted in some dramatic findings that surprised NASA scientists. Global warming computer models cycle models predicted that Amazon forests are vulnerable to both long- and short-term droughts, but satellite observations showed the opposite. Instead of drying up after a major drought in 2005, the Amazon forest actually greened up during the dry season. Because of fewer rainclouds there was more sun for the forest to absorb - hense more photosynthesis. These findings suggest that Amazon forests, although threatened by human-caused deforestation and fire and seem to be more resilient to climate changes than ecosystem models assume.

GLACIERS and ICE Information

We've all heard about the doom and gloom reports about the Artic Ice melting in Greenland and the North Pole but what do you know about the ice on the other end of the world...Antarctica? Did you know that Antarctica is growing? And Antarctica is HUGE... about twice the size of the United States? Antarctica contains about 70% of all the world's freshwater (frozen as ice) and 90% of ALL THE ICE IN THE WORLD? According to scientists, the ice in Antarctica is GROWING between about 30-45 billion tons every year. In some places the ice in Antarctica is over 15,000 feet thick! The world and it's climate are a complex and ever changing - we have dramatic changes going on at both ends of the world - and for what seem to be reasons of power, money, arrogance, politics and greed we only get one side of the story in the media and from our politicians. GreatGlobalWarming.com is here to provide news and information about global warming issues that most people don't hear or know about.

The Antarctic Ice Sheet covers five million square miles. The Greenland Ice Sheet covers another 700,000 square miles. Combined, they're twice as big as the contiguous United States. Combined, they're 100 times bigger than all the rest of the world's glaciers put together.

The current South Pole research station is also slowly being buried. A new station is now being built on top of the ice to replace it.

According to a recent study using satellite radar altimetry measurements the amount of ice on the interior of the ANTARCTIC IS INCREASING SIZEABLY - by around 45 BILLION TONS PER YEAR. The East Antarctic ice-sheet interior north of 81.6°S increased in mass by 45 ± 7 billion metric tons per year from 1992 to 2003.

http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/abstract/308/5730/1898

"...each year, about 2200 gigatonnes of snow fall on the Antarctic ice sheet and sink toward deeper layers, where it slowly changes into ice..."

"Within the past 200 years, the ice sheet seems to have switched fairly rapidly from a negative mass balance to a positive mass balance. A positive mass balance means that more ice is accumulating than is leaving the ice sheet."
> Science Daily - Scientists Detect Thickening Of West Antarctic Ice Sheet

The ice sheet covering the interior of Antarctica is thickening, researchers report in the journal Science. This bulge, which was recorded by satellite, may temporarily buffer rising sea levels, they believe. Antarctica's "weight gain" is due to extra snowfall, caused by rising temperatures, the US-UK team thinks.

> Antarctic Ice interior ice is thickening

SATELLITES SHOW OVERALL INCREASES IN ANTARCTIC SEA ICE COVER
> SATELLITES SHOW OVERALL INCREASES IN ANTARCTIC SEA ICE COVER

"The Southern Hemispheric area ice coverage is the highest in the satellite record, just beating out 1995, 2001, 2005 and 2006. Since 1979, the trend has been up for the total Antarctic ice extent."
http://icecap.us/index.php/go/joes-blog/a_new_record_for_antartic_total_ice_extent

The scientists said Antarctica is the only continent that is cooling. They can not say why.
Flow measurements for the Ross ice streams, using special satellite-based radars, indicate that movement of some of the ice streams has slowed or halted, allowing the ice to thicken...

"Perhaps, after 10,000 years of retreat from the ice-age maximum, researchers turned on their instruments just in time to catch the stabilization or re-advance of the ice sheet," Richard B. Alley of Pennsylvania State University, wrote in a commentary accompanying the Science paper."

In the beginning there was nothing. God said, 'Let there be light!' And there was light. There was still nothing, but you could see a whole lot better.

In the Beginning...
Because of the wonderful way the earth was created the earth is a perfect place for life to grow and thrive. According to scientists, the earth has increased in temperature by less than one degree in a hundred years yet somehow that has a panic worldwide and demands from the United Nations that they need billions of our dollars to avert disaster. Curiously they are relying on climate forecasts. Climate forecasts are simply long term weather forecasts. And as we all know the weather forecasts are frequently wrong and rarely try to predict any weather over 10-15 days out with any real accuracy. Because climate forecasts span tens of years the margin for errors is so great as to be ridiculous and even absurd.

FACTS ABOUT OUR SUN - Hotter than any SUV!

  • Global warming and the SUNCould it be possible the sun is the primary cause of global warming?
  • The Sun contains 99.8% of the mass of our entire solar system.
  • The Sun consumes more mass in one second than ALL of the fossil fuel ever burned on earth
  • The Sun is very active and variable - it has solar eruptions and sunflares
  • One sunflare can generate enough energy to power the entire United States for 20 years
  • The energy from a moderate sunflare is equal to completely covering the Earth's continents with a yard of dynamite and detonating it all at once.
  • Sunflares are our solar system's largest explosive event - they can travel at speeds of 250,000 miles an hour
  • Sunflares (also known as Solar Flares) are HOT! How about 20 million degrees hot!
  • The average solar flare puts out about as much energy as a thousand hydrogen bombs
  • The largest Solar Flares can explode with a force equivalent to about 10 million megatons, where one megaton is about the destructive power of a hydrogen bomb.
  • It has long been known that the Sun is neither featureless nor steady. (Theophrastus first identified sunspots in the year 325 B.C.)
  • The Sun has a cycles where the Sun's solar activity runs on an 11-year cycle
  • If the total output of the Sun was gathered for one second it would provide the U.S. with enough energy, at its current usage rate, for the next 9,000,000 years
  • The Sun's outer atmosphere is called the Corona. The corona occassionally explodes. Such an explosion is called a Coronal Mass Ejection (CME). The explosion of single CME can contain a billion tons of (extremely hot - 20 million degrees!) matter that can be accelerated to several million miles per hour. This Solar material streaks out through the interplanetary medium, impacting any planet or spacecraft in its path.

It is an undeniable fact that the most important force and cause global warming is our sun. Without the sun the earth's average global temperature would be about the same temperature of space which is about 475 degrees below zero. Even a child can understand that when the earth is exposed to the sun - it warms up - and has done so every day for millions (if not billions) of years. The sun is responsible for over 99% of all the global warming we have. As the earth orbits around the sun, the earth itself "wobbles" and tilts in a regular pattern every year. As the earth tilts closer to the sun - the heat from the sun causes "summer".

Scientific American - Global Warming Debate is over - 90% or Very Likely? Don't Think so!

In an article written by David Biello , the bold headlines of in the February 2007 Scientific American claim:

"Climate Change Verdict: Science Debate Ends, Solution Debate Begins"
http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?articleId=A1E03678-E7F2-99DF-349533FA77189693

Did the Scientific American do any thinking for themselves? To us, it looks like they have become mouthpieces for the IPCC. The same group that stands to make millions and control billions by scaring the planet about global warming with their doom and gloom scenarios.

According to the article: "The IPCC summary for policymakers definitively proclaimed the globe to be warming as a result of human activity, now the science shifts to impacts and solutions IPCC The debate over whether Earth's climate is changing and if humanity is responsible for that change closed in Paris on February 2. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released its summary for policymakers...in which it said that climate change is "unequivocal" and estimated the chances of humans being behind it at 90 percent, or 'very likely.'"

Scientific American goes on to say there was Global Warming before...

"In fact, the last time the Arctic and Antarctic were three degrees Celsius (5.4 degrees Fahrenheit) warmer—roughly 125,000 years ago—sea levels rose by as much as six meters (20 feet) thanks to the melting of the Greenland ice sheet. "

Hmmm......... we had global warming 125,000 years ago? Isn't that interesting? There were no factories or SUV's around at that time were there?

Just for you thinkers out there...

a) As Scientific American shows...there has always been global warming before - with and without humans

b) There has also been massive global cooling (remember the ICE AGE?) - but they didn't mention that little detail

b) Obviously, just because there may be global warming doesn't mean humans caused it.

c) In fact, there is no proof whatsoever that humans are the cause global warming at all (read the rest of this website for more information)

d) Greed, power and arrogance are the most likely reasons for all these grand pronouncements - all these scientists need the work and why claim you are trying to "save the world" while you're at it.

e) It's curious how these same scientists can't predict the weather 15 days out with any reliability but seem to think can predict the global climate 50 - 100 years out. Of course, they're scientists and must be right - or could they just be greedy, power hungry and enjoying all the attention?

REMEMBER THE ICE AGE?

Global warming can cause extinction The Global climate is a wild, enormous and uncontrollable phenomenon. Climate changes have been going on for millions of years -
